Hi Dug!!

I am fascinated by your project!! I am interested in raising awareness and funds for similar projects.

Without sounding cliche' - I unearthed this crazy notion (hiking the PCT) after reading Cheryl Strayed's book, "Wild".
I know...a million women in book clubs all over America may be wanting to do the same thing....yet their interest may be more of a passing phase...
but this has sparked something strong in me... I can't shake it. I have been devouring every book I can find about the trail...and then you!!
There are no accidents....this I firmly believe.

They dehydrator is awesome for camping....I really like mine. I'm going to start prepping for my trip soon, figuring out recipes, researching nutritional values, etc. My dehydrator will be humming for at least a month non-stop! :) Wouldn't trade mine for anything!

Sorry to hear that your trips fell through! :(
Guess you know now where I'm going since you read the post :)
The research is going alright, we're lucky to have someone in the group who is taking more of a lead role in organizing the dehyrated meals, but I just need to provide some input to help him out. Think we'll have something finalized tonight. Feeling good and also excited about trying this new dehydrating business!

That's awesome! Where are you hiking? I'm jealous. :) I haven't been hiking lately, I had a couple cool trips that were planned fall through because of work. But hopefully soon though. Next week will be the one year mark of when I got off the trail. Doesn't seem like that long! How's your research going? Feel good about your food situation?

Fantastic list! I am leaving to do the sierras section (central California) on the 29th. The gear list has been a great help - but if anyone is recently reading this i suggest the JOOS Orange and the Goal Zero charger. It's a little heavy (JOOS - 24oz, GoalZero - 6oz incl batteries) but i have power enough to handle photo, video, maps on my iPhone, digital camera, a flashlight, backup GPS and on other hikes i charge other people's iPads and phones when we meet up to camp on multi-day trips, nd that was while hiking in tree cover. Since I'm cutting weight everywhere else, this is definitely worth the extra weight and cash.
***take your JOOS to the hardware store and get 4 eyelets that match the side threads (#8 machine thread, i think) you can use some guyline to keep it from sliding arond. definitely a bonus.
